Paul Bastian is an expert of digital identity management at Bundesdruckerei. His focus is on proof of identity, device binding, secure elements as well as the design and analysis of technical protocols for decentralized identity ecosystems. He has been involved in the development process of eIDAS 2.0 since the start, he is leading the development of the German EUDI Wallet as an architect, and he is instrumental in the development of the international standards. Paul Bastian studied computer science at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and has gained experience in the innovation team of Bundesdruckerei for 14 years, dealing with topics like the German identity card, physical access control, smart cards, biometrics, cryptography and self-determined identity.
